A Himalayan Tahr moving across a rugged Himalayan slope in search of food. The animal carefully navigates the uneven terrain, stopping occasionally to browse on available vegetation growing among the rocks and mountain grasses.
Recognized by its thick reddish-brown to greyish coat, sturdy barrel-shaped body, and short backward-curving horns, the Himalayan Tahr is exceptionally adapted to life in steep mountain environments. Its specialized hooves provide excellent grip on rocky surfaces, allowing it to traverse cliffs and slopes with remarkable confidence.
Native to the Himalayan region, Himalayan Tahrs are commonly found on forested hillsides, alpine meadows, and rocky escarpments. They are herbivores that feed on grasses, leaves, shrubs, and other mountain vegetation, often covering large areas while foraging.
The rugged landscape shown in this footage reflects the species' natural habitat, where steep terrain and challenging conditions have shaped its unique adaptations. Constant movement in search of food is an important part of the tahr's daily routine, especially in mountainous regions where vegetation can be scattered.
