Ebola spreading faster than the response in Congo as WHO boss pays visit to virus-stricken region

The World Health Organization chief met Democratic Republic of Congo officials on Saturday to reinforce efforts to contain the country’s latest Ebola outbreak, urging international support and a strong community-led response. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus joined Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba in Kinshasa as authorities battle a fast-growing outbreak that has recorded more than 1,000 suspected cases. "The name of the game is together and solidarity is our best immunity," Ghebreyesus told journalists during a news briefing in Bunia. The visit follows calls from global health agencies for increased funding and resources, with aid groups warning the outbreak is spreading at an unprecedented pace.
