Wildlife interaction in Kaziranga National Park between a powerful Crested Hawk-Eagle (also known as the Changeable Hawk-Eagle) and a group of Rose-ringed Parakeets perched cautiously on the same bare tree branch. The Crested Hawk-Eagle, positioned upright on the branch, is a formidable bird of prey recognized by its streaked breast, sharp talons, and alert posture. This raptor is known for hunting small mammals, reptiles, and birds, often scanning open canopies and forest edges for prey. Nearby, a group of vibrant green Rose-ringed Parakeets remain perched at a careful distance. These highly social parrots are commonly found across the Indian subcontinent and are known for traveling and feeding in noisy flocks. Although hawk-eagles are natural predators of parakeets and other medium-sized birds, this scene captures a rare moment of calm coexistence without immediate aggression or hunting behaviour. Such encounters highlight the complex balance of predator-prey dynamics in the wild.
