Video Description
Muslim Chinese Street Food Tour in Xi’an, China! 👉 Subscribe for more: https://youtube.com/thefoodranger 👉Check out my friend Alex's channel https://www.youtube.com/@Just_Food I’m so excited to take you on this ultimate Chinese food tour in Xi’an, China. This is one of the most famous street food cities in China and the starting point of the Silk Road. My friend Alex  @Just_Food  came to China for the first time, and I took him to try authentic Muslim Chinese cuisine for the very first time. It was so much fun to see his reactions to trying authentic Chinese food for the first time in China! Xi’an is home to the Hui Muslim Chinese community, and the Muslim Quarter street food here is legendary. This is where Chinese and Middle Eastern flavors blend, lots of cumin, chili, garlic, hand-pulled noodles, lamb, and flatbread. This creates one of the most unique cuisines in the world. This Silk Road food traveled across Central Asia into the Middle East and even influenced cooking in Europe. In this video (part 1 of 4), we try some of the most iconic Muslim Chinese street foods you must eat in Xi’an: 正宗裤带面钟楼小区 (Authentic Belt Noodles) We started with Youpo Lazi (Biang Biang Mian) — hand-pulled “belt noodles” covered in hot chili oil, garlic, and vinegar. This famous Xi’an noodle dish costs just 14 RMB (~$2 USD) and is one of the most popular Chinese street foods. 清真马宾小炒 (The Xiaochao Paomo a famous stir fried noodle dish with flatbread) Next we ate Xiaochaopaomo (pita bread mutton stew). You tear the flatbread by hand into small pieces before it’s cooked in rich lamb soup, so it soaks up all the flavor. This is a traditional Muslim Chinese dish and one of the most famous Xi’an foods. We had the spicy version! Price: Free — they wouldn’t let us pay! 尔奈斯大盘鸡 (Big Plate Chicken) For our main course we ordered Big Plate Chicken (Dàpánjī). A huge platter of braised chicken, potatoes, and chilies, topped with hand-pulled noodles. Originally from Xinjiang, this dish is now a favorite across Northwest China. Price: 128 RMB (~$18 USD). This is a must-try Silk Road cuisine classic. Xi’an Street BBQ Stall – We ended the night with Xi’an-style BBQ skewers — beef and lamb grilled over charcoal and coated with chili oil, cumin, and fermented bean paste. This is one of the most addictive Chinese street foods and a highlight of Xi’an’s Muslim Quarter night market. I had an amazing time showing Alex around Xi’an and introducing him to Hui Muslim Chinese street food for the first time.
