Video Description
We’ve just started tearing down a vintage Huron slotting attachment and what we find inside isn’t good! This attachment is being rebuilt and adapted to fit our Zayer milling machine, giving it the ability to cut slots, internal keyways, and even machine square holes on the mill. In this video, we tear it down piece by piece. From removing the drive arbor and internal ram assembly to the last dowel and bolt. But the deeper we go, the worse it looks — broken dowels, burrs, and impact marks suggest this unit has been crashed before. After a full teardown and a clean in the hotwash, we uncover what no machinist wants to see… two cracks in the main housing. That’s not going to stop Kurtis though, we will continue the rebuild! Stick around for the next part where we’ll tackle the crack repairs and get this old Huron slotting attachment ready to work again on our Zayer.
