Video Description
Pelican Point turns a hive of activity. This time of year is bittersweet for us; as the seals grow rapidly and spend more time foraging in the open ocean to fuel their development, the risk of entanglement skyrockets. It isn't uncommon for our team to encounter 10, 20, or even 30 entangled seals in a single morning. The tragedy lies in the design of modern plastic. Much of what we find, like thin fishing line or clear packing straps, is engineered to be invisible underwater, making the ocean a literal minefield for marine life. And for the young, curious pups, a bright piece of floating debris like a rubber gasket isn't a threat - it’s a toy. Their natural playfulness leads them straight into a "plastic landmine" that they cannot escape on their own. In this video, we encounter three entangled seals in just one group. It’s a stark reminder that even a few grams of plastic waste can change the course of a seal's life forever. We are out here every day to ensure that, for these three at least, the story has a happy ending. 🦭 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Please visit our website to find out more about our work and how to support us: ➡ Website: https://www.ocnamibia.org/ ➡ Donate via Paypal: https://ow.ly/BTm550PIavq ➡ Donate via Stripe: https://ow.ly/Xy1F50PIMzQ ➡ Support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/OCN ➡ FAQs: https://www.ocnamibia.org/faqs Follow us on social media: ➡ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oceanconservationnamibia/ ➡ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OCNamibia ➡ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@oc_namibia ➡ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/ocnamibia/ ➡ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ocnamibia 😊 Thank you for every like, share, comment and subscribe 😊 Ocean Conservation International is registered as a non-profit organisation under chapter 501(c)3.
