Building Custom Storage Solutions For The Workshop

Our workshop storage is getting a serious upgrade as we build three custom storage pieces designed for daily use and a tidier shop. We get straight into fabricating a dedicated rack for our lathe chucks and steady rests using leftover SHS and angle. We need to cut, fit and tack everything together before it gets fully welded. From there things step up with a more involved build, a vertical storage shelf system designed to finally give all the awkward tools a proper home. We are using SHS for the uprights and folded zinc coated trays for the shelves, which will be notched and fitted together so everything lines up clean and looks the part before being welded out. The final storage piece is two hanging shelves for the hydraulic press to hold all the press tooling right where it is needed. These shelves are designed with a key lock style system to make assembly quick and accurate before everything is welded solid. Once all three storage pieces are fabricated, they are going to get a coat of paint to really finish them off. Simple fabrication. Practical design. Real workshop upgrades.
