Video Description
About 8 years ago Super Mario Odyssey was released! And Super Mario Odyssey was released to tremendous acclaim. To this day it is tied as the best reviewed Mario game, it is the best selling 3D Mario game of all time and most importantly of all, even eight years later the game is still a ton of fun to play. So with the switch slowly reaching its well earned pension and with the next big Mario adventure likely right around the corner I thought it might be a good time to take a look back at Odyssey. To take a look at what made the game so great, what the evil community did to the poor game over the years, where it could even have been better and to have fun with the game for one final time before the next Mario game jumps onto our consoles in the form of a Donkey Kong game. But … you see, over the years I’ve beaten Odyssey dozens of times. I played the game in it’s intended way, I speedran it for a bit, I tried all sort of silly challenges but … there is actually one thing I never tried in Super Mario Odyssey. I never tried to beat the game without touching a single filthy coin. We should finally change that! So in this video we are going to do two things. On the one hand we will attempt to beat Super Mario Odyssey without touching a single evil coin. We will try to beat the game under the premise that coins are as deadly as they are shiny. But on the other hand, we are also going to take a look back at the game and discuss a lot of interesting things along the way. We will chat a bit about the game's design, its speedrun and how it evolved, certain aspects of the game's user interface and UX among other things. And in the end we will not only have taken a look back at Super Mario Odyssey - the most successful Mario game to date - but we will also know whether it is possible to beat Super Mario Odyssey without touching a single deadly coin.
