We came for nature...FLORES' HISTORY and CULTURE took us by surprise! (ft. Todo Village) | Ep 11

[GENE-Log/Indonesia/11] So begins our 2 days 1 night overland trip in Flores island! Labuan Bajo is at the western coastline, and we travel by car all the way to Ruteng. On the way, we pass by irrigation fields, the traditional Todo Village from the Manggarai Kingdom, and the spider web rice fields with a deep philosophy from the local community. (Initially we booked a trip to Wae Rebo village, but there was a landslide that blocked the road there a couple days before, so we booked this trip instead.) After resting and trying to stay healthy, day 2 brings us to the hobbit cave, and the infinity pool waterfall, not without a few road hiccups (um...the car broke down...twice ?). The tour was made so much more meaningful thanks to the local guide and driver who explained in good detail various things about the culture and history of Flores - as he himself is from the Manggarai tribe!
