In the Twisha Sharma death case, the Madhya Pradesh High Court heard arguments on the anticipatory bail of her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, on May 27. The hearing lasted for nearly three hours before Justice Devnarayan Mishra’s court reserved its order. During the hearing, the CBI argued that custodial interrogation of Giribala Singh is necessary to take the investigation forward. The petitioner’s side opposed the anticipatory bail, claiming it was granted in haste and raising questions related to the FIR, investigation process, CCTV/DVR access, alleged dowry-related harassment, postmortem findings and Twisha’s chats with her family. Senior advocates appearing for Twisha Sharma’s family argued that this was a case of unnatural death within six months of marriage and that a proper legal inquiry should have been conducted. Meanwhile, CBI has also taken custody of Samarth from Bhopal Police for the remaining period of police remand.
