This moment always breaks our hearts. A thin, unassuming piece of twine had become a deadly noose for this young seal pup, slicing deep into his neck. The hardest part of our job is the moment we pin them down and we have to cause a few seconds of intense pain to a terrified animal just to save its life. There is no other way. Every rescue is evidence of the mounting crisis in our oceans. As long as plastic pollution and unsustainable fishing continue, these innocent animals will pay the price.
