Redefining Global Citizenship | Charlie Pettitt | TEDxPAS Youth

After more than a decade of travelling and living around the world, Charlie Pettitt shares his journey towards becoming a Global Citizen. Drawing from his experiences as an international educator, he highlights cultural differences and challenges stereotypes, all while praising the power of diverse communities who have realised their shared humanity. While many people believe Global Citizenship is evidenced by a passport full of stamps, Charlie redefines it as a mindset. Ultimately, he argues that the path to the peaceful future we all hope for is guided by empathy, cultural connection, and local action. Charles Pettitt is an international educator from the UK with ten years of teaching experience across five countries. He is passionate about working with students from diverse backgrounds and fostering global citizenship in the classroom. He holds an LLB in Law and French from Cardiff University, a PGCE from the UCL Institute of Education, and a Master’s degree in Special Education from Framingham State University. He currently teaches high school Research, Seminar, and Social Studies at the Pan American School of Porto Alegre.
