Video Description
A NATO military jet shot down a suspected Ukrainian drone over Estonia on Tuesday in the latest cross-border drone incident that has caused ‌a political uproar in the Baltic states. Neighbouring Baltic state Latvia issued an air threat alert over a possible drone entering its airspace as well on Tuesday, instructing residents near the Russian border to stay indoors, as NATO Baltic Air Police jets were summoned to the area. It later said it found no evidence that a drone had entered its airspace. “We are currently observing that Russia has launched an active disinformation campaign against Latvia, spreading deliberate lies that Latvia is allowing its airspace to be used for drone strikes by the Ukrainian armed forces against Russia,” Latvian Head of Crisis Management Arvis Zile said. Ukraine blamed Russia for steering one of its drones into Estonian airspace: "Russia continues to redirect Ukrainian drones into the Baltics with the use of its electronic warfare," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi wrote on X. "We apologize to Estonia and all of our Baltic friends for such unintended incidents." Tykhyi also echoed that Kyiv was not using Latvian or Estonian territory to launch drone attacks on Russia.
