Machining the Custom Drive Coupling | Franna Crane Project | Part 36

We’re kicking off the build for the custom drive coupling that will link our Cummins 6BT engine to the new hydraulic pump on our Franna crane project. Instead of a one-piece direct drive, we’re making this a 3-piece coupling using a flexible rubber coupling, a spline adapter for the pump shaft, and two scrap pieces of steel we’ll machine into precision adapter plates. In this video Kurtis is on the lathe, transforming scrap material into perfectly machined parts. There’s plenty of turning, drilling, boring, and parting off as we get the 2 adapter plates machined.
