Video Description
Alina Ashortiia knows what it feels like to start over before feeling ready. In this personal and reflective talk, she explores the fear of being a beginner again, especially after failure, uncertainty, or the pressure to already have everything figured out. After her first business collapsed, Alina returned to employment, rebuilt her confidence step by step, and eventually chose to start again this time understanding that growth comes not from perfection, but from the willingness to keep learning. As a tech entrepreneur and mentor, she reflects on the quiet courage it takes to make mistakes, begin from zero, and stop comparing your beginning to someone else’s middle. This talk is for everyone who feels behind, afraid to fail, or uncertain about taking the first step, and a reminder that the biggest mistake is often not trying at all. Alina is the founder of JOIDY, an outstaffing and outsourcing company, and co-founder of Nobori.ai, an AI tool helping brands become visible in AI-driven search. She is also a speaker, AI&Sales mentor, and a Board Member at W.Tech, where she supports women in tech. Beyond titles, she believes that growth begins when one allows themselves to be imperfect, and her mission is to help people step into IT and realize their true potential. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and started her career as a developer, later moving into QA Automation. She finds real joy in sharing hard-earned lessons, believing they can make someone else’s path clearer. What inspires her most is impact — when one idea shifts how a person sees themselves. This is why she stepped onto the TEDx stage: to remind people that it is okay to fall apart, as long as they find the strength to begin again. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
