여담으로 이 괴짜 같은 차를 만든 주인공은 포르쉐 엔지니어 출신의 '에버하르트 슐츠'입니다. 그가 1978년에 벤츠 부품을 모아 만든 'CW311' 콘셉트카가 이 차의 원형인데요. 당시 슐츠는 벤츠의 허락을 받지 않은 상태에서 차량 전면에 벤츠의 삼각별 로고를 붙여 박람회에 출품했습니다. 원래라면 상표권 침해로 법적 대응을 받았겠지만, 이 차의 압도적인 디자인과 뛰어난 완성도를 본 벤츠 측은 오히려 만족스러워하며 "이 콘셉트카 단 1대에 한하여 벤츠 로고를 달아도 좋다"라고 공식적으로 승인해 주었다고 하네요. 하지만 벤츠가 양산을 거부하자 슐츠는 직접 '이스데라'라는 회사를 차려 이 차를 세상에 내놓게 된 것이라고 합니다.
