Video Description
A Stork-billed Kingfisher perched calmly on the branch of a large tree inside Manas National Park in Assam, India. The species is one of the largest kingfishers found in Asia and is easily recognized by its enormous bright red bill, greyish-brown head, and vibrant greenish-blue wings and back. The bird appears to be resting on a Silk Cotton tree, identifiable by its broad palmate leaves and long hanging seed pods. These tall tropical trees are common in forest ecosystems across Northeast India and provide ideal perching and nesting spots for many bird species. Stork-billed Kingfisher is commonly found near rivers, wetlands, mangroves, and forest streams, where it hunts fish, frogs, crabs, insects, and small reptiles. Despite belonging to the kingfisher family, it often preys on a wider variety of animals than smaller kingfisher species. Manas National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for its rich biodiversity, tropical forests, grasslands, and rare wildlife including tigers, elephants, hornbills, golden langurs, and numerous bird species. #StorkBilledKingfisher #Kingfisher #ManasNationalPark #Assam #BirdWatching #WildlifeIndia #IndianBirds #Nature #BirdPhotography #Wildlife Stork-billed Kingfisher, Pelargopsis capensis, Manas National Park birds, Assam wildlife, Indian kingfisher species, tropical forest bird, Silk Cotton tree, Northeast India wildlife, birdwatching Assam, wildlife documentary India This footage is part of the broadcast stock footage archive of Wilderness Films India Ltd., the largest HD and 4K collection from South Asia.
