Pete Hegseth says Indo-Pacific region remains central to US security and economic interests

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth striking a measured tone at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. Mr Hegseth stressed that the Indo-Pacific remains central to American security and economic interests. But he also warned that China's military build-up should be a cause for concern, saying no country should be allowed to dominate the region. Turning to ties with Beijing, Mr Hegseth stressed the importance of continued engagement between the US and China to reduce the risk of miscalculation. And when asked about future arms sales to Taiwan, he said any decision would ultimately rest with President Trump.
