Cheer Pheasant or bhoincheel calls out in its exquisite voice in the Kumaon Himalaya | Rare Himalayan Bird Sighting with a backdrop of the Chaukhamba range and nearby peaks. A rare sight unfolds near a rocky ridge in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand—a Cheer Pheasant (Catreus wallichii) standing alert on rocky terrain scattered with dry, brown grass.
