Video Description
Join me for a full day eating in Jakarta — but not your typical food tour. Before starting my Java series (the next chapter of my Sabang to Merauke journey), I wanted to try something different… so I let Indonesian influencers show me where locals actually eat. 🍛 Stop 1 — Nasi Uduk Warung We start the day at a small warung serving Nasi Uduk, where the owner has a story you wouldn’t expect. I’m joined by food influencer Michelle Santoso, who introduces me to the flavors. 🪣 Stop 2 — Warung Kerek (the bucket system) One of the most unique food spots in Jakarta — where meals are transported across a river in a bucket. On one side: a 5-star hotel. On the other: a humble warung. A perfect example of Jakarta’s contrasts. 🍽️ Stop 3 — Warteg & “The Original Touchscreen” With Rere Anggara, we visit a classic Wartek, where I learn how locals order food… and why this might be Indonesia’s original touchscreen 😄 👴🏻 Stop 4 — Pasar Majestik Trying local snacks and having one of the most unexpected encounters of the day — meeting a 96-year-old bapak who completely steals the moment. 🥗 My Favorite Spots in Jakarta Later in the day, I take you to a couple of my personal go-to places — including Honu for healthy food, and we end at HongDae Korean BBQ, showing how international food culture has become part of Jakarta. 🎬 What’s Next This video is a bit different from my usual travel content — filmed while preparing the next big chapter: my journey across Java.
