Trump Settled a Case With Himself. Was That Legal?

The Trump administration this week created a $1.8 billion fund to dole out taxpayer dollars to people who claim to have been politically persecuted. The effort has been denounced by critics as a fund designed to support allies of President Trump, possibly including Jan. 6 rioters. The administration also declared that Trump, his family and businesses have immunity from ongoing tax audits.
