Gorumara National Park, one of eastern India's most important wildlife habitats. High in the forest canopy, a group of Capped Langur can be seen resting among the trees.
These distinctive primates are recognized by their grey-brown upper bodies, creamy-orange underparts, and the characteristic dark cap of hair on their heads. Their long tails help them maintain balance as they move gracefully through the forest canopy. Primarily leaf-eaters, capped langurs spend much of their lives in trees, feeding on leaves, fruits, flowers, and young shoots.
The footage also features a giant squirrel from the genus Ratufa, actively foraging among the branches. These large tree-dwelling rodents are known for their agility, powerful limbs, and remarkable ability to leap between trees while searching for fruits, nuts, seeds, and bark.
The dense forests of Gorumara provide ideal habitat for a rich diversity of wildlife, making the park a valuable refuge for many species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects.
This footage offers a glimpse into the hidden world of canopy wildlife and highlights the ecological richness of one of West Bengal's premier protected forests.
