Rufous Treepies calling in Wilderness Orchard

Two Rufous Treepies (Dendrocitta vagabunda) perched within the trees of Wilderness Orchard. These members of the crow family are recognized by their rusty-orange body plumage, contrasting blackish-grey head and breast, and long graduated tail. Their wings display a distinctive combination of black, white, and silvery-grey feathers. One of the birds appears to be vocalizing, with its beak open while perched among the branches. Rufous Treepies are highly vocal birds known for a wide range of calls, from harsh metallic notes to melodious whistles. Common across much of the Indian subcontinent, they inhabit forests, orchards, gardens, and wooded landscapes.
