How Faith Opened Doors to My Dream Job

Growing up in Brooklyn, Brian Munguia was a baseball fanatic. He spent his time memorizing players, studying play-by-play calls, and dreaming of one day working for a professional baseball team. That childhood passion never left him, but the path forward wasn’t always clear. During the pandemic, with a baby on the way and uncertainty about the future, Brian turned to a self-reliance course offered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There, he learned practical skills like resume building and networking, but more importantly, he strengthened his faith and trust in Heavenly Father. Through mentorship with Brad Borden, prayer, and persistence, Brian combined his talents in radio and television with the spiritual confidence that God had a plan for him. That faith opened doors that led him to Citi Field, where his ability to speak Spanish connected him to the Mets’ broadcast team. Today, Brian works as the Spanish producer and engineer for the New York Mets, living the dream he had as a boy. Brian shares that Heavenly Father blesses us with gifts and opportunities, but it’s up to us to act with faith, self-reliance, and determination.
