Video Description
Eastern China’s Shandong Province, one of the country’s pilot zones for green and low-carbon growth, is speeding up the construction of various new energy systems in line with the 15th Five-Year Plan. With a goal of doubling non-fossil energy in the next 10 years, the province’s plan mixes wind, solar, hydro and nuclear power for an integrated approach to expanding renewables on its grid. Work is already underway on an offshore wind base in the coastal city of Qingdao. Shandong province will also accelerate the completion of four major clean energy bases: the nuclear power base and the offshore wind power base on the Jiaodong Peninsula, an onshore wind power base in western Shandong, and an integrated wind-solar-storage-transmission base in northern Shandong. By 2030, Shandong's installed capacity for non-fossil energy is expected to reach 200 gigawatts, while its energy storage capacity is expected to reach approximately 40 gigawatts.
